New DisTanz Solo Grant: IL & Interaction

Naccarato has received a second DisTanz Solo grant, for the period of May to October 2022, to support the project:

This grant will support the sustained development, documentation, and sharing of Interstitial Listening (IL) as a somatic listening practice integral to designing interaction in contemporary dance and music.

In collaboration, choreographer Teoma Naccarato and composer John MacCallum aim to: 1) deepen IL by way of intensive individual practice; 2) facilitate live/virtual workshops with professional dancers, musicians, and interaction
designers in Berlin; and 3) generate sustainable, multimodal, and accessible online resources.

Stay tuned here for information about upcoming workshops, as well as free guided training podcasts online!

Guided individual practice of Interstitial Listening now available online!

We’re excited to share the first in a series of online resources for Interstitial Listening. This 90-minute guided practice offers a window into the wealth of exercises, both individual and collective, that we have developed over the years. These initial online resources have been developed through a series of virtual and live workshops with performers in Berlin and beyond during summer 2021, with support from a DisTanz Solo Grant (see details and logos below). For additional context, you can read about Interstitial Listening here.

Additional online resources, as well as announcements regarding upcoming workshops, will be posted here on our site in the coming months. Feel free to get in touch and let us know if you have any questions or comments.
